Terry finished the primary tail feathers and the Nene is ready to go to its new home in Hawaii. It's a lovely piece which his sister, Diane, will really enjoy. The details on the neck and tail feathers are quite realistic. A friend from work, Barbara Mize, made the brass name plaque. Working on the Nene inspired Terry to take on another large bird project, he plans on making a Loon for my sister, Trina.
Welcome to Quack Shack Carvings! I, Rhonda, started this blog for Terry so that interested family and friends could see what he's working on and completed. He will be doing the carving I'll be blogging, computers are not Terry's thing.
Terry was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska. His Dad worked on the Alaska Railroad so as a kid he was able to explore Alaska via the rail. His second favorite past-time is Fall Fishing for Silver Salmon on the Kenai River. We live on a lake; where we feed and enjoy watching the wildfowl. In 2006 he took a few duck carving classes and discovered a new passion. It has resulted in the pieces displayed here.
Terry's work schedule gives him the time he wants and needs to spend time carving. That's why in 2009 we spent the time and money to build a studio to work in. Pictures of it are posted in the blog.
Terry would like it if you became a follower of his carvings. Also click on any of the pictures to get a larger detailed version of the carving. Please leave comments as we would appreciate your feedback.
